		Score Valley Country House Hotel, located between Woolacombe and Ilfracombe, is one of North Devon’s hidden gems, concealed from the road in its own valley behind a band of tall trees. On entering the private drive you will be transported into the tranquil gardens with ample parking where you will be guaranteed a peaceful undisturbed break. Indeed many of our guests say they have the best night’s sleep here that they have had in years. We have eight spacious bedrooms which have been individually furnished to a high standard with king and super king sized beds, retaining many of the period features including some of the original fireplaces and two roll top baths. The rooms are fully en-suite, except one which has private facilities. All are equipped with generous hospitality trays, towels and toiletries, colour TV, shaver points and heated towel rails. 		You are most welcome to explore the public areas of the hotel grounds. May we also suggest that you take time to relax and observe the skies and trees where you are likely to hear and see the resident Score Valley buzzards soaring above together with many other birds, according to the season. In the evenings you will most certainly be startled but, hopefully, not disturbed by the tawny owls and at twilight may catch sight of a pipistrelle bat. Whilst we can make no guarantees of any sightings, Score Valley is also home to squirrels, deer, foxes and badgers.

Many of the features in the grounds and the walled gardens of the hotel date back to the 18th century, and possibly much earlier. There is a wide range of established trees and shrubs which include camellia, fuchsia, hydrangea, rhododendron, azalea, clematis, wisteria and much more, so the foliage is colourful throughout the year. Accompanying this is the gentle sound of our own water feature, the stream, meandering through.

Remarkably all of this is only a pleasant 20 minute walk from Ilfracombe with its beautiful harbour, shops, theatre and other attractions. The hotel is also adjacent to an entrance to the Cairn Nature Reserve which is an enjoyable walk offering spectacular views across Ilfracombe and across the Bristol Channel to the Welsh coast.
