You are most welcome to explore the public areas of the hotel grounds. May we also suggest that you take time to relax and observe the skies and trees where you are likely to hear and see the resident Score Valley buzzards soaring above together with many other birds, according to the season. In the evenings you will most certainly be startled but, hopefully, not disturbed by the tawny owls and at twilight may catch sight of a pipistrelle bat. Whilst we can make no guarantees of any sightings, Score Valley is also home to squirrels, deer, foxes and badgers.
Many of the features in the grounds and the walled gardens of the hotel date back to the 18th century, and possibly much earlier. There is a wide range of established trees and shrubs which include camellia, fuchsia, hydrangea, rhododendron, azalea, clematis, wisteria and much more, so the foliage is colourful throughout the year. Accompanying this is the gentle sound of our own water feature, the stream, meandering through.
Remarkably all of this is only a pleasant 20 minute walk from Ilfracombe with its beautiful harbour, shops, theatre and other attractions. The hotel is also adjacent to an entrance to the Cairn Nature Reserve which is an enjoyable walk offering spectacular views across Ilfracombe and across the Bristol Channel to the Welsh coast.
Score Valley provides the ideal base for your North Devon holiday or activity, and we welcome guests for overnight stays, short breaks and holidays.
